JULY 24 • Gouache Fruits with LaCott Fine Art

Practice Gouache, a watercolor medium with many exciting applications through summer fruit! This class will focus on the properties of the medium and familiarize us with the basics of building three-dimensional layers in water-based Gouache. We will represent strawberries, blueberries, peaches, and plums, experimenting with color intensity, the importance of layering, and expressiveness.

During class, we will discuss the differences explicitly related to opaque Gouache versus traditional watercolor tube paint and the different illustrative ways we can express our fruit still-life.

Students will work with warm-up exercises and discuss proper techniques for mixing Gouache, using water, and building a loose still-life composition.

Students will receive a workbook to follow with the instructor during the class!

Students are asked to bring their own fruit references, photos, or actual fruit to use during class. The instructor will provide a limited amount of fruit for students to paint from during the workshop.

Though this is a beginner-friendly class, it is excellent for those who have taken basic Gouache classes before, such as Introduction to Gouache.
